Tylecodon wallichii, commonly known as Pegleg Butterbush, is a distinctive succulent shrublet characterized by its thick, knobby, tuberculate stems and long, slender, gray-green leaves that cluster at the tips of its branches. This plant can grow up to 32 inches tall, with the main stem reaching up to 2.4 inches in diameter. Thriving in full sun and requiring minimal water, Tylecodon wallichii is summer-deciduous, shedding its leaves during the hot, dry months to conserve moisture. In early summer, it produces clusters of nodding, yellowish-green flowers on long peduncles, adding a splash of color to its unique form. This species is well-suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 9b through 11.
