The Trichocereus thelegonus is an attractive columnar cactus known for its upright, ribbed stems covered with short golden spines. This species can grow impressively tall, reaching up to 10 feet in height and 6 inches in diameter. It thrives in full sun, requires low water, and prefers well-draining soil to prevent root rot. In spring and summer, it produces large, fragrant white flowers that open at night, adding a touch of elegance and attracting nocturnal pollinators. Its rapid growth and bold presence make it a favorite among collectors and landscape designers. Best grown in USDA Hardiness Zones 8–11.
