Stenocereus beneckei, also known as the Mexican Organ Pipe Cactus, is a striking columnar cactus native to central Mexico. It features bluish-green to gray-green stems with a waxy coating called farina, which helps reflect sunlight and reduce water loss. The stems are adorned with 6 to 9 prominent ribs and clusters of spines that start brown or black and mature to gray with reddish tips. In cultivation, it can grow up to 6.5 feet (2 meters) tall and 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter. This cactus thrives in full sun, requiring at least 5 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily, and prefers warm temperatures above 70°F (21°C) with low humidity. It is extremely drought-tolerant, needing well-draining soil and infrequent watering—allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. In late spring to early summer, it produces large, nocturnal, funnel-shaped flowers that are brownish on the outside and white on the inside, opening at night and lasting up to 24 hours. Its unique appearance and low-maintenance care make it an excellent choice for xeriscaping, desert gardens, or as a standout container plant.

You will receive the exact plant pictured, it is a fully rooted plant. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail within the United States and its outlying territories ONLY.  We do not ship internationally.

All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot.  This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight.  Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents are very hardy and will rebound easily with proper care.
