Stapelia gigantea (Zulu Giant or Carrion Flower) is a spineless succulent sporting thick, four-angled green stems that may scramble or climb, topped by massive star-shaped blossoms up to a foot across. It typically grows about 6–12 inches tall and can spread 1 to 2 feet wide in ideal conditions. The plant prefers full sun to light shade, thrives in gritty, well-drained soil, and is drought tolerant once established. In fall it blooms pale ochre-yellow flowers with maroon lines that emit a strong odor to attract pollinating flies. It is hardy in USDA Zones 9–10.
You will receive a plant similar to the one pictured, it is a fully rooted plant. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail within the United States and its outlying territories ONLY. We do not ship internationally.
All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot. This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight. Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents are very hardy and will rebound easily with proper care.
