The Protea susannae is a striking, evergreen shrub featuring leathery, silvery-green leaves and dramatic, cone-shaped flowers that showcase soft pink bracts surrounding a creamy white center. It typically grows to 4–6 feet tall and 3–5 feet wide, forming a dense, architectural shrub perfect for accent planting or containers. This South African native thrives in full sun with well-draining, acidic soil, and is highly drought-tolerant once established. Blooming occurs in late winter through spring, producing large, long-lasting blooms that attract pollinators and make excellent cut flowers. Protea susannae prefers warm, temperate climates and requires minimal supplemental watering, making it ideal for low-maintenance gardens. All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot. This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight. Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry.
