The Pachycereus pringlei, commonly called the Cardón cactus, is an impressive columnar cactus with thick, ribbed, upright stems that can branch into massive clusters over time. Known as the largest cactus species in the world, it can grow up to 60 feet tall and 3 feet wide per trunk, making it a true statement plant for desert landscapes. This hardy giant thrives in full sun and requires very little water, making it ideal for xeriscaping or dry gardens. In spring, mature plants produce white, funnel-shaped flowers that open at night, followed by edible red fruit enjoyed by wildlife. Extremely resilient to heat and drought, it prefers well-draining soil and can live for centuries under the right conditions. The Pachycereus pringlei is perfect for those who want a rare, dramatic, and iconic desert specimen in their collection. USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
