The Othonna capensis, commonly known as Little Pickles, is a unique trailing succulent with slender, finger-like leaves that turn shades of green, purple, and red depending on sunlight exposure. This fast-growing plant typically spreads to 12–24 inches long and about 4–6 inches tall, making it perfect for hanging baskets, ground cover, or decorative pots. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, is highly drought-tolerant, and prefers well-draining soil with low water needs. During the warmer months, it produces cheerful bright yellow, daisy-like flowers that contrast beautifully with its colorful foliage. Othonna capensis is a low-maintenance, eye-catching plant that brings year-round interest with both its foliage and blooms. A favorite among succulent collectors, it is both decorative and resilient in dry landscapes or container gardens. USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
