This Peruvian native grows in high altitudes mainly in the eastern slopes in inter-Andean valleys and is covered with wool as a protection against the cold. The flowers are bright red and zygomorphic, suggesting that this plant is pollinated by birds. This is a frost hardy cactus, hardy in USDA Zones 9-11. It requires full sun exposures, a well draining cactus soil. Water sparingly from March till October (weekly during summertime, if the weather is sunny enough). Less or no water during cold winter months, or when night temperatures remain below 10° to prevent root loss. It is sensitive to overwatering (rot prone)
You will receive the exact plant pictured, it is a fully rooted plant. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail within the United States and its outlying territories ONLY. We do not ship internationally.
All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot. This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight. Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents are very hardy and will rebound easily with proper care.
