The Opuntia microdasys var. pallida, commonly known as the Pale Bunny Ears Cactus, is a distinctive cactus featuring flat, paddle-like segments covered in soft, pale glochids that resemble tiny spines, giving it a unique, fuzzy appearance. This slow-growing cactus typically reaches 2–3 feet in height and 2–3 feet in width, forming an attractive clumping structure over time. It thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, making it ideal for desert gardens, rockeries, or container planting. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, it requires minimal water once established. During spring and early summer, it may produce small, yellow flowers that add a subtle pop of color to its pale green pads. Perfect for xeriscaping or as a statement succulent, it adds texture and charm to any collection. USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
