Neobuxbaumia euphorbioides is a striking columnar cactus with blue-green to gray-green stems, 8–10 pronounced ribs, and sparse dark brown to blackish spines that often become less noticeable with age, giving the plant a clean architectural appearance. This fast-growing species typically remains unbranched or develops a candelabra-like form from the base as it matures. In ideal conditions, it can reach an impressive 15–30 feet tall and up to 6 inches in diameter, making it a dramatic specimen for desert landscapes and cactus collections. Neobuxbaumia euphorbioides thrives in full sun once established, though younger plants appreciate light shade, and it prefers well-draining soil with low water needs, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. During late spring to early summer, mature plants produce attractive pink to reddish-pink flowers with pale yellow centers that open near the upper portions of the stems. This drought-tolerant cactus is best suited to hot, dry climates and should be protected from prolonged freezing temperatures. USDA Hardiness Zones: 9b–11.
