Myrtillocactus geometrizans, commonly known as the Blue Myrtle or Blue Candle Cactus, is a striking columnar cactus featuring blue‑green, ribbed stems that branch into a candelabra‑like form. It can grow into an impressive shrubby tree reaching 10–20 ft tall (typically 4–6 m) with several slender trunks. The plant blooms in spring and summer, producing small, creamy‑white flowers followed by edible blueberry‑like dark purple fruits. Thriving in full sun with well‑draining, gritty soil, it’s extremely drought‑tolerant but appreciates deep watering during active growth and tolerates light frost to around 25 °F Hardy in USDA zones 9–11, this fast‑growing cactus is ideal for xeriscapes, large containers, or as a dramatic statement piece in any succulent collection.
