Mammillaria compressa, commonly known as Mother of Hundreds, is a captivating cactus native to Mexico, celebrated for its dense clusters of globular stems adorned with chalky white to brown radial spines. This species produces charming bell-shaped flowers in shades of pink to purple, typically blooming in winter and early spring. Mature plants can reach heights of 6 to 12 inches and widths of 9 to 15 inches, forming expansive mounds over time. Thriving in full sun to bright shade, it prefers well-draining, gritty soil and is highly drought-tolerant, requiring minimal watering—only when the soil is completely dry. Hardy in USDA Zones 9a to 11, it can tolerate temperatures down to 25°F (-4°C) for short periods. Its low-maintenance nature and striking appearance make it an excellent choice for rock gardens, xeriscaping, or container cultivation.

You will receive the exact plant pictured, it is a fully rooted plant. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail within the United States and its outlying territories ONLY.  We do not ship internationally.

All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot.  This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight.  Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents are very hardy and will rebound easily with proper care.
