Leucadendron ‘Safari Sunset’ - 5 Gallon (GN)

Leucadendron ‘Safari Sunset’ is a bold evergreen shrub with narrow leathery green leaves flushed purple‑red and dramatic, rich red-to-gold cone bracts that emerge in late summer through spring, perched atop long stems for maximum impact. When mature it reaches 8–10 ft (2.4–3 m) tall and spreads 6–8 ft (1.8–2.4 m), forming a striking upright and spreading habit that can be lightly pruned to maintain shape. This cultivar thrives in full sun and performs best in well-drained, sandy to loamy, acidic or neutral soil, demonstrating excellent drought tolerance once established; ideal for xeriscapes or low‑water gardens. Hardy to about USDA zones 9a–11 (down to ~20 °F/‑6 °C), it tolerates heat, coastal conditions, and deer, and is widely favored by florists for its long-lasting bracts. Maintenance is minimal—just prune after flowering to encourage a bushier habit. Perfect as a specimen plant, screen, cut-flower source, or architectural feature in low-maintenance landscapes.

All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot. This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight. Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry.
