The Gasteria disticha is a unique and eye-catching succulent known for its thick, tongue-shaped leaves arranged in distinctive opposite rows, creating a flat, fan-like growth pattern that makes it stand out in any collection. Mature plants typically reach about 6–12 inches tall and 6–12 inches wide, making them a compact choice for containers, windowsills, or rock gardens. This hardy succulent prefers bright, indirect light to partial sun and thrives in well-draining soil with low water needs, making it very drought-tolerant once established. During spring and summer, it produces tall flower spikes adorned with small, tubular pink and green blooms, which attract pollinators and add an extra touch of charm. Its slow growth and architectural form make it ideal for indoor displays or as part of a desert-style garden. Easy to care for and very resilient, the Gasteria disticha is both beautiful and beginner-friendly. USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
