Agave attenuata, commonly known as Foxtail Agave, is a soft, spineless succulent featuring smooth, fleshy, pale green to gray-green leaves that form elegant rosettes with a graceful, architectural look, making it a popular choice for modern landscapes and container gardens. This drought-tolerant agave typically grows 3 to 5 feet tall and spreads 4 to 8 feet wide, sometimes developing a short trunk as it matures and forming attractive clumping colonies over time. It thrives in full sun to partial shade with well-draining soil and requires low to moderate watering, making it ideal for xeriscaping, coastal gardens, and warm, dry climates. When mature, it produces a dramatic, arching flower spike up to 10–15 feet tall, blooming with clusters of pale green to yellow flowers most often in summer, adding striking visual interest. Easy to care for and highly adaptable, this low-maintenance succulent is perfect for both beginner and experienced plant collectors seeking a unique, sculptural statement piece. USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
