Aloe peglerae, commonly known as the “fez aloe,” is a small, stemless succulent native to South Africa. It forms a solitary, dense rosette of bluish-grey leaves that curve inward, creating a spherical shape. The leaf edges are adorned with reddish-brown spines. This aloe typically grows up to 7 to 15 inches in height. In late winter to early spring, it produces a flower stalk about 15 inches tall, bearing dense clusters of dull red, tubular flowers. Aloe peglerae thrives in light shade and requires well-draining soil with infrequent watering, making it drought-tolerant. It is suitable for USDA Hardiness Zones 9 to 11.
