Ferocactus pilosus - Mexican Fire Barrel Cactus SH8

Ferocactus pilosus, commonly known as the Mexican Fire Barrel or Mexican Lime Cactus, is a striking barrel-shaped cactus distinguished by its dense covering of vibrant red spines. Mature plants can reach heights of up to 10 feet (3 meters) and diameters of approximately 20 inches (50 centimeters).  This species thrives in full sun and requires minimal watering, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping and low-maintenance gardens.  Native to the Chihuahuan Desert in northeastern Mexico, it is well-suited to arid environments.  In late winter to spring, mature specimens produce vibrant red-orange flowers that develop into juicy, lime-flavored fruits, adding both visual interest and unique edibility to your plant collection.

You will receive the exact plant pictured, it is a fully rooted plant. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail within the United States and its outlying territories ONLY.  We do not ship internationally.

All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot.  This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight.  Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents are very hardy and will rebound easily with proper care.
