Ferocactus herrerae - Twisted Barrel Cactus SH9

The Ferrocactus herrerae, also known as the 'Twisted Barrel Cactus', is a rugged and eye-catching cactus with a round, ribbed body and signature spiraling growth pattern that gives it a unique, twisted appearance. Its thick, curved spines range in color from reddish to golden. This slow-growing cactus can reach up to 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide, making it a compact yet striking focal point for any desert garden or container. It thrives in full sun and prefers dry, well-draining soil with minimal water—perfect for low-maintenance, drought-tolerant landscapes. In the summer, mature plants may bloom with bright yellow flowers that sit atop the plant’s crown. Cold-hardy down to around 20°F, it should be protected from extended frost or freezing in colder climates. Recommended for USDA Hardiness Zones 9a–11.

You will receive the exact plant pictured, it is a fully rooted plant. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail within the United States and its outlying territories ONLY.  We do not ship internationally.

All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot.  This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight.  Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents are very hardy and will rebound easily with proper care.
