The Fenestraria rhopalophylla ssp. aurantiaca, commonly known as Baby Toes, is a rare and charming succulent with clusters of upright, cylindrical, bluish-green leaves that resemble tiny toes with translucent “windows” at the tips. This compact plant stays small, typically reaching only 2 inches tall and 3–4 inches wide, making it ideal for windowsills, dish gardens, and small containers. It thrives in full sun to bright indirect light, preferring sandy, well-draining soil and requiring very little water, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance growing. In the fall and winter months, it produces daisy-like golden-yellow flowers that create a cheerful contrast against its unique foliage. Native to arid regions, this succulent is highly drought-tolerant and well-suited for rock gardens or indoor collections. Its unusual form and colorful blooms make it a conversation piece for any plant lover. USDA Hardiness Zones 10–11.
