Echinocereus pentalophus, commonly known as the Ladyfinger Cactus, is a low-growing, sprawling cactus with thin, finger-like stems covered in soft spines and a deep green hue. This clumping species can spread up to 3 feet wide and typically stays under 6 inches tall, making it ideal for hanging baskets, rock gardens, or ground cover in arid landscapes. It thrives in full sun and prefers well-draining soil with infrequent watering, especially during the cooler months. In late spring to early summer, it produces stunning large magenta-pink flowers with lighter centers that can measure several inches across. This cactus is both drought-tolerant and easy to care for. Hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 8–10.
