Cereus forbesii is a striking columnar cactus featuring blue-green to gray-green stems with 4–8 prominent ribs, small gray areoles, and long yellowish-brown spines that create a bold architectural appearance. This fast-growing cactus develops upright, branching stems and can form impressive clumps over time. Mature plants commonly reach 6–10 feet tall, with exceptional specimens growing up to 20 feet or more in ideal conditions. Cereus forbesii thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, making it an excellent choice for xeriscapes, desert gardens, and drought-tolerant landscapes. Once established, it requires very little water and is highly tolerant of heat and dry conditions. Large, fragrant flowers appear from late summer through fall, opening at night and displaying white to reddish-white petals with pink highlights and yellow centers. These blooms may be followed by attractive red fruits. USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
