Browningia caineana (syn. Castellanosia caineana) is a striking tree‑forming cactus with grey‑green, segmented columnar stems bearing pronounced ribs and showy dimorphic spines—strong spines lower down and fine bristles near flowering tips. This architectural species can grow up to 5–6 m tall, branching at the base to form a dramatic desert silhouette. In warm seasons, it produces deep red, funnel‑shaped flowers at the top of stems, creating a vibrant contrast . Native to dry shrublands in Bolivia and Paraguay, it thrives in full sun, sandy, well‑draining soil, and requires infrequent, deep watering during active growth . Keep dry through cooler months (5–15 °C) to prevent rot. Perfect for xeriscape gardens, large containers, or collectors seeking bold, drought‑tolerant statement plants.
Please note that the plant may or may not be in bloom when purchased. You will receive the exact plant pictured. These are fully rooted plants. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail within the United States and its outlying territories ONLY. We do not ship internationally.
All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot. This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight. Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents are very hardy and will rebound easily with proper care.
