Aloe castilloniae is a rare, low-growing succulent native to the calcareous cliffs of southwestern Madagascar. It features distinctive, tightly stacked rosettes of blue-green, recurved leaves adorned with red-brown marginal teeth. This species exhibits a sprawling, vine-like growth habit, with stems that can extend up to 3 feet in length, making it well-suited for hanging pots or as a ground cover. Aloe castilloniae thrives in full sun and requires minimal watering, reflecting its adaptation to arid environments. It blooms year-round, with a peak flowering period from February to May, producing bright orange-red flowers on short inflorescences. This species is best suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 10 to 11.
