Aloe cameronii, commonly known as Red Aloe, is a striking succulent prized for its gracefully curving leaves that range from vibrant green to deep coppery red, especially when exposed to full sun and minimal watering. This medium-sized aloe typically grows 1 to 2 feet tall and spreads 2 to 4 feet wide, forming open rosettes that can develop into dense clumps over time. It thrives in full sun to bright shade and prefers well-drained, gritty soil with low to occasional watering, making it highly drought-tolerant once established . In late fall to early winter, Aloe cameronii produces vibrant orange-red flower spikes that rise above the foliage, attracting hummingbirds and beneficial insects. This aloe is well-suited for rock gardens, succulent landscapes, and container planting, adding year-round color and interest . Hardy in USDA Zones 9b through 12, it can tolerate temperatures down to approximately 25°F when kept dry.
