Dasylirion wheeleri, commonly known as Desert Spoon or Sotol, is a striking evergreen succulent featuring a symmetrical rosette of slender, blue-gray leaves edged with fine, golden spines. This slow-growing plant typically reaches 4 to 5 feet in height and width, with mature specimens occasionally developing a short trunk. In summer, it produces a dramatic flower stalk up to 15 feet tall, adorned with thousands of tiny white or purple-pink flowers, attracting bees and hummingbirds. Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, Desert Spoon is highly drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal maintenance. It’s an excellent choice for xeriscaping, rock gardens, or as an architectural focal point in arid landscapes. Hardy in USDA Zones 7 through 11.

You will receive the exact plant pictured, it is a fully rooted plant. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail within the United States and its outlying territories ONLY.  We do not ship internationally.

All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot.  This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight.  Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents are very hardy and will rebound easily with proper care.
