Tylecodon paniculatus, commonly known as the Butter Tree, is a robust succulent shrub characterized by a thick, fleshy green trunk with attractive yellow peeling bark. This deciduous plant typically reaches heights of 5 to 6 feet, with some specimens growing up to 8 feet tall. Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, it requires minimal watering, especially during its summer dormancy when it sheds leaves to conserve moisture. In late spring to early summer, the Butter Tree produces vibrant orange-red flowers that attract pollinators. Ideal for xeriscaping, this drought-tolerant plant is suitable for USDA Hardiness Zones 9b through 11.

You will receive the exact plant pictured, it is a fully rooted plant. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail within the United States and its outlying territories ONLY.  We do not ship internationally.

All of our plants are shipped bare-root and without their original nursery pot.  This is done both to protect the plant and to reduce shipping expenses. We pack our products by hand and take great care to ensure they arrive at their final destination safely. Upon receiving your plants, make sure to remove them from their packaging immediately, repot them using dry soil, and provide ample sunlight.  Water as needed, making sure to water again only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents are very hardy and will rebound easily with proper care.
