Pygmaeocereus bieblii is a captivating, small geophytic cactus native to Peru, characterized by its spherical green stems adorned with 10 to 25 tuberculate ribs lined with clusters of short, whitish to dark yellow spines. Typically growing solitarily, it occasionally forms small clumps, reaching up to 4 inches in height and 2 inches in diameter. In summer, it produces striking white, funnel-shaped flowers that can extend up to 7 inches in length and 2.4 inches in diameter. This cactus thrives in bright, direct light and requires well-draining soil to prevent root rot. It is drought-tolerant and should be watered sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, especially during its winter dormancy period. Pygmaeocereus bieblii prefers warm temperatures and should be protected from frost, making it suitable for USDA Hardiness Zones 10 to 11.
