Neochilenia cachytaensis, also known as Neoporteria cachytaensis, is a captivating globular cactus native to Chile. This slow-growing species typically reaches up to 6 inches (15 cm) in height and 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter, making it ideal for indoor cultivation. Its dark green body is adorned with prominent ribs and dense, white spines, creating a striking visual contrast. In spring, it produces vibrant, funnel-shaped flowers that add a splash of color to any collection. This cactus thrives in bright, indirect sunlight and prefers well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, especially during the winter months when the plant is dormant. While it can tolerate brief periods of light frost, it is best to protect it from freezing temperatures.
