Mammillaria tesopacensis var. rubraflora is currently recognized as a synonym of Mammillaria sonorensis. This cactus species features a globular to short cylindrical shape with tubercles arranged in spiral patterns, adorned with radial spines that vary in color from white to reddish hues. It produces vibrant red flowers, adding a striking contrast to its spiny exterior. In cultivation, it typically reaches up to 6 inches (15 cm) in height and 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter. This species thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-draining soil with infrequent watering, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. It is suitable for USDA Hardiness Zones 9 to 11, tolerating minimum temperatures down to 25°F (-4°C).
