The Mammillaria hertrichiana is a small cactus covered in short white radial spines and occasional longer, darker central spines. It typically grows up to 5 inches tall and 3 inches wide, and can eventually form small clumps with age. This species thrives in full sun to bright indirect light, prefers low water, and should be planted in well-draining cactus soil to prevent root rot. In late spring to early summer, it produces charming pink to magenta flowers that bloom in a circular pattern around the crown, adding a colorful halo to its spiny form. It's an excellent choice for windowsills, desert-themed gardens, or indoor succulent collections. Water sparingly during the growing season and keep dry in winter. Best suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
