The Mammillaria fraileana, also known as the Fraileana Pincushion Cactus, is a cylindrical cactus with a dense covering of short white spines. It typically grows in clumping clusters and can reach up to 6 inches tall and 2 inches wide per stem, eventually forming attractive mounds over time. This cactus thrives in full sun to partial shade, prefers low water, and should be planted in well-draining soil to avoid root rot. During spring and early summer, it produces small, funnel-shaped pink to magenta flowers that bloom in a circular crown near the top of each stem. It's an excellent choice for rock gardens, container arrangements, or windowsill displays. Water sparingly during the growing season and keep dry in winter. Best suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
