Gymnocalycium schreiteri is a small, globular cactus native to Argentina, characterized by its dark green, dome-shaped body adorned with short, bronze and white spines. This species blooms vibrant red flowers in late autumn, adding a striking contrast to its spiny exterior. Typically, it grows up to 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height. This cactus thrives in full sun and prefers well-draining soil. During the summer growing season, water once every 1-2 weeks, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings; reduce watering during winter to prevent root rot. As it is not frost-hardy, protect this species from freezing temperatures.
