The Fockea edulis is a fascinating caudiciform succulent known for its tuberous base (caudex) and long, green stems with small, smooth leaves that can be trained or allowed to sprawl. The caudex can grow up to 12 inches wide, while the vines may reach lengths of 6 feet or more over time, making it a standout for bonsai-style displays or hanging planters. It thrives in bright indirect light to full sun, needs minimal water, and prefers well-draining soil to prevent rot. During the growing season, typically in spring and summer, it may produce small, greenish-white to yellowish flowers, though blooming is rare in young plants. This drought-tolerant species should be watered sparingly and kept dry in winter dormancy. A favorite among collectors for its unusual form and adaptability. Best suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
