Aloe marlothii, commonly known as Mountain Aloe, is a succulent with thick, blue-green leaves covered in prominent spines along the margins and sometimes on the leaf surfaces. This striking plant can grow up to 10 feet tall and 6 feet wide, eventually forming a tree-like trunk with age. It thrives in full sun, requires minimal water, and performs best in well-draining soil, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping or large container gardens. Aloe marlothii blooms in late fall to early winter, producing towering branches with bright orange to red tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds and pollinators. Its dramatic silhouette and drought tolerance make it a standout feature in any garden. Suitable for USDA Hardiness Zones 9–11.
